Living Room BEFORE & AFTER

Everyone likes a good before & after right? Well, this one won't disappoint!

Melissa & Justin moved into their home in March 2020. They had painted the wall that runs into the dining/kitchen area a light blue to cover up a purple that was already there. They had put together the space with gifts & picture frames acquired over the past years, a few Amazon & Hobby Lobby purchases, and went with colors that matched the new wall color. During our first meeting, Melissa shared that she needed a different vibe: the space felt depressing and cold --and it wasn't the terrible Spokane winters.

During the initial meeting, it was clear they needed some warmth and new energy breathed into the space.

TIP: warmth can come from textures and color. Easy affordable ways to add warmth:

  • Swap a pillow cover, or grab a throw from Ross.

  • Change a photo or art with ones that have warm colors (reds, oranges, browns, yellows). Search by color!

  • Add a plant (real or faux!)

From their client survey, I learned that modern farmhouse was the style they gravitated to, they preferred neutral colors and wanted more warmth to the room, and family & their spiritual community is important to them. I met with them for about 2hrs one evening to take pictures of the existing space and to talk about options, ideas, and ways to improve the space. After that meeting I put together the Options Boards.

My Option Boards ($75 for 3) offer a range of ideas and recommendations at 3 different pricing options and inclusions, additionally, all the inclusions coordinate with any board so clients can mix and match depending on budget and preferences. Options Boards also include all the direct links & instructions for direct purchase.

Melissa & Justin agreed they wanted to update the paint in the whole living room. I provided the paint color suggestions along with sheen and they made the purchase and painted over a weekend themselves. Just the updated paint was a game changer!

The new neutral color subdues the darker grey already in their kitchen and hall spaces and coordinates better with their furniture. Having a cohesive palette throughout the bottom floor should also help in the future with re-sell.

The existing floating shelves they had worked, but the space had more potential on either side of the fireplace. This is a great example of where hiring me can help achieve a more elevated and professional look. Shelves are the right choice for that area, but the spacing and size needed changing.

Once the painting was done, they purchased a new rug, pillows and a piece of art. I got to work on the custom shelves and fireplace mantel! Installation was done over 2 evenings. 90% of the décor was what they already had.

Working with Alisha was so much fun, from start to finish, we had the best time collaborating on ideas to executing a finished product. Her attention to details is a true gift, she blew away our expectations and made our living space feel so much more inviting and warmer, I love our new living room."
